There is an ongoing shortage on lettuce, organic and conventional due to cold and wet weather patterns in California this winter and spring 2017. Supply is very low.


As quoted in a letter from to supplier (local BC warehouse) from a US farm rep:


“We are heading into some tough times here at T&A. Our harvest numbers are decreasing due to quality and the blast of weather that we received in Yuma. As we reach the end of Yuma and the start of Huron we need to make some adjustments in order to cover all our customers. It wont be enough to cover our customers with weekly averages and get by. Unfortunately, you will seeprorates of nearly 50 % of your averages with Romaine, Romaine hearts, Artisan Lettuce, Cauliflower and Broccoli. Green leaf has been in another class of its own by prorating up to 70% of weekly averages. It has been a while since I have seen these extreme markets but please note that the next 3 weeks or so will be rough. …”
